Rachel Malone, former Team Canada 2018 assistant coach, will be replacing Brian Gallaway (National Team Coordinator) as Quidditch Canada’s first National Team Program Manager.

Malone founded the University of Calgary Quidditch Team in 2012, and the Calgary Mavericks (formerly known as the Calgary Mudbloods) in 2015. She also works as a referee certifier for Quidditch Canada, and was the first certified Head Referee in Western Canada. Malone plays primarily as a chaser, and has six years of quidditch coaching experience, which include her role as assistant coach and speaking captain for Team Canada in Frankfurt for the 2016 World Cup and assistant coach in Florence for the 2018 World Cup. Having finished her Master’s of Science at the University of Calgary, she has relocated to Seattle, WA for work and now plays for the Rain City Raptors.

We are looking forward to taking our next steps as a National Team program, with eyes ahead to the 2019 Pan-American Games in Richmond, Virginia.
